Setting up QCollector for MTPredictor v6.0

QCollector Expert is a program that downloads real-time price data from eSignal® http://www.mechtrading.com/qcollector/esignal/index.htm.

This page shows you how to set this up to use your live eSignal datafeed in MTPredictor v6.0, on a timed update basis:

For more detail see the sections below:

Step 1 - set up QCollector

Before you start, you must create a New Folder on your Hard Drive for each market you trade - QCollector will save the appropriate data files in ASCII format into the Folder.

As an example, see the two New Folders called C:\Qcollector\USA Indices and C:\Qcollector\European Indices (please choose your own Folder name). You can create as many Folders as you wish - it depends on how many markets you are following and how you want to save your data files:

Step 2 - set up QCollector continued

Click New ASCII Portfolio... when setting up your Portfolios in QCollector:

These are the ideal settings to use for the Portfolio, including the date format of yyyymmdd

Now add the individual data files into QCollector:

The ideal settings to use for your individual data files are:

Use the eSignal code for each market you wish to add.

This will create ASCII data files in the Folder you have chosen on your hard drive:

NOTE: if you are creating both Intraday and Daily files, please make sure they are in different Folders - intraday data files have an extra time column, so will have a different ASCII definition in MTPredictor.

When setup, you will have a list of data files you wish to follow - it could look like this, depending on the markets and timeframes you are following yourself:

Step 3- getting the data into MTPredictor v6.0

Open a new data file in MTPredictor v6.0:

When you click on Find your Folder, navigate to the Folder on your hard drive into which the data files are saved, in my example above this is C:\Qcollector\USA Indices

The first time you Plot a date file in MTPredictor, you will be asked to "define" the data definition. See the screenshot of the option to use for these data files. This definition should be found automatically by MTPredictor, so all you should have to do is check that the definition looks correct, then Click OK:

Lastly, for Build 165 and above, you can use the Timed Updates in MTPredictor v6.0 to automatically update your ASCII charts at set intervals - for example, every 1 minute or every 15 seconds):
